Contest Format

KIDS STAR PAGEANT

The Kids Star Pageant will consist of 2 Rounds and a Talent round.

ROUND 1 Introduction Round:   All contestants will be introduced in this round. This is your opportunity to catch the attention of the audience and judges! Dress code for this round is Ethnic (South Asian) attire.

TALENT ROUND (for ages 5+): Contestants will get an opportunity to perform an act (no more than 2 minutes) to demonstrate their talent. You could sing, dance, do mimicry, give a speech or impersonate your favorite Bollywood star! Make it fun and creative to wow the judges! This round is MANDATORY for ages 5+ ONLY.

ROUND 2 Formal Round: All contestants will appear in formal American attire of their choice.

  • For contestants 4 years and under who need assistance, one parent will be allowed to walk on stage with them.
  • Contestants will be responsible for providing their own clothing for all the rounds of the competition.  
  • Contestants will be responsible for their own hair and makeup. We encourage very little to no makeup for kids as kids look best natural.
  • All rehearsals will take place over the final contest weekend and are mandatory for all contestants.  
  • Contestants will be taught simple choreographed routines for the different rounds on Saturday, April 7th from 10am-Noon.  All contestants MUST attend the rehearsals.  
  • Detailed schedule for rehearsals will be shared with the contestants after registration.
  • All contestants will be required to bring in 6 copies of a one-page bio with picture on April 7th. This is mandatory and will be used for judging and announcements.
  • NO Talent Round for kids 4 years and under. Talent Round is MANDATORY for kids 5+ years.  Kids can perform any talent like singing, dancing, speech, mimicry, instrument, painting etc. All talent round details including final music (if applicable) must be emailed to KidsStarContest@gmail.com.
  • Contestants will be responsible for providing their own clothing for all the rounds of the competition.  
  • Detail contest rules and requirements will be provided after registration.

ART COMPETITION

All participants will be required to bring their art work to the venue directly and submit at check-in. The art work will be displayed on the event premises for viewing and judging. Winners will be announced based on the judges decision.

  • One entry per participant
  • Artwork will be done at home and brought to the venue on the event day before Noon
  • Participants who arrive late or don't submit their artwork on time may not be allowed to compete
  • Artwork must be created in physical media (no digital “paintings”), i.e. Oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, etc. Must be a single painting on a single flat surface/canvas
  • Artwork must be done solely by the participant with little to no help from anyone else. We reserve the right to demand proof subject to disqualification
  • Artwork must be participant's own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted material. If your image infringes upon another’s copyright it will be disqualified
  • Artwork will be judged on the following criteria: Drawing, Values, Edges, Composition, Color, Paint Manipulation (Brushwork), and subject matter selection
  • Painting by numbers and other semi-completed kits/stencils are not to be used
  • The decision of the jury will be final
  • By entering this art competition, you agree to abide by all rules and are granting us a non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images of your painting
  • Winners must stay back for the award ceremony at the end of the event

LEGO COMPETITION

All participants will be required to bring their own LEGO® work to the venue directly and submit at check-in. The work will be displayed for viewing and judging. Winners will be announced based on the judges decision.

  • One entry per participant
  • Use your own LEGO® bricks and elements to build a creation at home. Enter online completing the registration form and bring your creation to the event venue directly before Noon
  • Participants who arrive late or don't submit their artwork on time may not be allowed to compete
  • Entry must be original. Use only genuine LEGO® bricks, elements and pieces. Non-Lego embellishments may be added, but the creation must be made from LEGO®. Entries from special themed LEGO® kits are not eligible and will be disqualified, but elements from these kits may be used in an original LEGO® showcase submission.
  • Work must be done solely by the participant with no help from anyone else. We reserve the right to demand proof subject to disqualification
  • Your submission must fit within a space of 24 by 24 inches (60.96 cms) and be no taller than 4 ft. (121.92 cms)
  • Entries will be judged on the following criteria: Building skill (based on age), Creativity, Difficulty Level, Originality and Presentation
  • The decision of the jury will be final
  • By entering this competition, you agree to abide by all rules and are granting us a non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images of your work
  • Winners must stay back for the award ceremony at the end of the event

SPELLING BEE

All participants will be given the same number of words (15-20 words based on age group) to spell. The words will be read out and each participant will write down their answers on the sheet of paper provided. Participant with the most answers correct will win the competition. In the case of a tie, there may be an additional round. A final verbal round may also be conducted in case of a tie - finalists are given a word that they have to spell in front of an audience; participant is eliminated as soon as they get an incorrect spelling.

  • Participants must arrive on time otherwise they may not be allowed to compete
  • The word list will be emailed to the participants on April 15th, 2019
  • Judges decision is final
  • Winners must stay back for the award ceremony at the end of the event
